roserose . . . . Rosewood Consort . . . .

The Rosewood Consort is a group of early music enthusiasts who play viola da gamba (a bowed string instrument that enjoyed great popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries) and recorder (a woodwind instrument that was popular during the same period). Rosewood was founded in 1995 by four viola da gambists in the Beacon-Poughkeepsie area who share a love of playing Renaissance music on instruments of that time. Rosewood offers a variety of programs: Christmas Music from the thirteenth through the seventeenth centuries; Early American Traditional Music; and a Tapestry of Renaissance Music. The group numbers from a minimum of four violas da gamba to a maximum of six or seven when augmented by recorders.
