Survivor Lily Margules

Brief History
Born in Vilna, Poland in 1924, Lily Mazuar Margules was one of two children born to pharmasist David Margules and dentist, Gutta Margules. However, in May of 1939, Mrs. Margules' mother suddenly passed away, and four months later the Nazis invaded Poland. Over the next six years, Mrs. Margules and her sister, Rachel, managed to stay together as they endurded the hardships of life in the Vienna ghetto, concentration camp, slave labor camps, and the death march. Mrs. Margules and her sister were finally liberated by Russian troops on March 11, 1945. After the war, Mrs. Margules, her sister, and Mrs Margules' husband, Isaac, moved to Argentina before coming to the United States to live with their uncle.
