Postelsia
Postelsia (common name, Sea Palms) are strikingly differrent from other Laminariales but have the same fundamental internal structure and same life history. The thallus possesses a most efficient holdfast which virtually grows into rocky substrates. At the summit of the stipe which may be two or more feet high, is a crown of long, slender blades, giving the plant its characteristic palm appearance. Exist on the Pacific coast of North America.
