Fucus

Fucus is commonly known as seaweed and usually grows attached to rocks in intertidal zones. Branches, known as thalli, have receptacles developing at the tips. Special hallow chambers, known as conceptacles contain gametangia (illustrated below). Sperm and eggs are released into the water where fertilization takes place.
