Classification of Plants, Whittaker FIVE KINGDOM SYSTEM (1978)

KINGDOM I - Monera

The Kingdom Monera, derived from prokaryotic ancestors, is comprised of two Subkingdoms:

• SUBKINGDOM Archaebacteriobionta
• SUBKINGDOM Eubacteriobionta.Since this is a study of plant evolution we will begin with a study of the Eubacteriobionta which contains the mostprimitive plants, the blue-green algae.
