ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This study was originally designed as a multimedia project and subsequently converted and revised to an Internet environment. The multimedia project was made possible through a Curriculum Development grant from the New York State Cluster of the Pew Program in Undergraduate Science Education awarded to Dr. Frances M. Cardillo, O.S.F., Department of Biology, Manhattan College and Carol Budd, M. A., Department of Biology, St. Lawrence University. Additional funds were made available from the Biotechnology Gift Fund, Manhattan College. The major portion of the time required for the project was made possible by a one semester sabbatical leave granted to Frances M. Cardillo by Manhattan College.

Special mention is made to Dr. Patricia A. Grove for her consultive role and to Dr. William A. Tramontano, Chairperson for his supportive role, both of Department of Biology, Manhattan College/College of Mount St. Vincent. Students James McBrien, Carl Chiaramonte and Ria Zois, who are now graduates of the Department pursuing professional careers, assisted in adding to databases in the early phases of the multimedia project.
