Corymb
Similar to the raceme is the corymb, which may be regarded as a modification of a typical raceme. The mother-axis is relatively shorter, and, owing to the elongation of the lower pedicels, all the flowers come to one level. The flowers are in a spiral around the buds, and the fruits are at the outside of the cluster. The buds are at the center of the inflorescence near the terminal buds of the stem which forms the axis. This renders the whole inflorescence more conspicuous to insects, and the individual flowers tend to remain small.
