Frameworks
Overview
All courses in the program for school leaders are based on, and conducted
to model leadership principles, concepts, and understandings. This is not
to imply that classes are identical to each other. The frameworks are
hypotheses. To the extent that they are present as components of the courses,
the more likely it is that learning can be applied to the "real
world."
Highlights
By including a broad spectrum of learners with their differences in knowledge and skill level of the class participants, the more
reality based learning skills for leadership will be. The program in
school leadership permits participants to begin courses at any point in
the sequence. We believe this is
essential so that "those in the know" will have the opportunity
to practice a necessary skill for any school:
• Integrating new staff into the culture and belief system of the school.
• Learning with and from colleagues who represent a continuum of
knowledge and experience offers "slices of reality" valuable
for leading self and others.
• Welcoming participants regardless of prior knowledge,
experience or position of authority / leadership. This encourages diversity
and variety of perception and experience.
• Recognizing everyone is a resource. At the level of graduate study, participants
are owners of experience, knowledge, skills, dispositions, a world view, and a frame of reference.
