  • Order: Oscillatoriales
    Filamentous organisms enclosed by a sheath.
    Oscillatoria | Gleotrichia

  • Order: Nostocales
    Colonial cells which form trichomes; some cells form heterocysts.
    Nostoc | Anabaena

    2. Class: Prochlorobacteriae

    Three species more recently discovered.
    Prochloron
